Bikers
When I return from a trip and have 2 or 3 frames left on a roll of film, I’m often eager to get all those hard-earned shots developed. After tough negotiations at the airport to spare them from x-rays, countless miles of walking with a camera around my neck and two lenses stuffed in my pockets, and constant efforts to protect everything from sand and water, or snow and wind.
In short, when I get back from a trip and there are still frames left, I have to finish the roll at all costs, as quickly as possible. That’s how I started shooting cyclists from my window. It seemed like the most interesting and accessible subject at no extra cost. It all began with this photo, which turned out to be my favorite shot from that entire vacation series.
Then it spiraled out of control.
